Why write?

When I considered starting a blog I realized two primary things. First, I missed having a voice. After working in TV for almost a decade - talking to news makers, politicians, and corporate leaders - I have spent the last 4 and a half years in the land of baby babble. I cherish (almost) every minute of my mommy time. My girls bring me joy. Joy that I didn't know you could feel once you were an adult. Silly, sweet, uncomplicated joy. I wouldn't trade my time with them for anything, but last year I realize that I missed a more adult dialogue.

The second reason I felt inspired to launch this blog was because I feel remarkably blessed to have so many incredible women, men, mentors, and friends in my life. They are people who make me wiser, kinder, and more balanced. I want all of you to know these superstars in my universe and their many talents. That is why I plan on sharing their voices with you. Starting tomorrow I will be regularly featuring interviews with people who inspire me. You can expect to hear from doctors, yogis, athletes, activists, acupuncturists, and entrepreneurs. Just to name a few...

Lastly, I feel I would be remiss if I didn't add something that has been weighing on my mind since I launched The Sentimentalist. As I have said before, what I share is my opinion. I NEVER EVER want my opinion to hurt or insult. My mantra is to be open, considerate, and respectful of other people's choices in life. My advice might not always be right for you, so please take what I write, and decide its relevance to your life and needs.

This is an open dialogue so email me if you have questions, aversions or ideas about what I am doing over here at The Sentimentalist. Thank you for reading and for making me feel like I once again have a voice.

  1. So inspiring. I too have so many powerful men, women (you) and mentors in my life and your voice brings me back to the gratitude of sharing in community! Keep it up sis...

  2. I do maps, sketches and plot out where all the residents live. I plan nearby towns and landscape. I often cheat and mimic a town I know and sometimes just set my stories in real places. One of those international bloggers so I won't enter the comp.
